Foodie - Homepage Setup

Visitors to food blogs come looking for something specific instead of scrolling through pages of posts. Because of this, the Foodie theme has a widget area on the homepage where you can set up posts the way you want, instead of a full blog feed.

This requires you have the Flexible Posts Widget installed and activated. Please note: If you do not set this widget area up, posts will be displayed in the theme’s default 3-column grid layout.

  1. Go to Appearance > Customize.
  2. Select the Widgets panel, then the Home Posts panel.
  3. Click Add a widget.
  4. Find and add a Flexible Posts Widget.

The Foodie theme includes 4 templates for this widget:

  • Foodie One Half (displays in 2 columns)
  • Foodie One Third (displays in 3 columns)
  • Foodie One Fourth (4 columns)
  • Foodie One Sixth (6 columns)

Add additional Flexible Posts Widgets for each category you’d like to display on your homepage.

To choose a category for each widget, click the Taxonomy & Term tab, select Categories from the dropdown, then choose your category.
